Heric was in charge of Spurs since the beginning of the season, when the GladAfrica Championship franchise was renamed from Ajax Cape Town, but has been laid off after contracting the coronavirus.
His last game in charge was against Richards Bay just before Christmas, after which he tested positive on 28 December 2020 and subsequently vacated his post two weeks later.
"I tested positive on December 28 and then obviously because I was rushing to go back to work, I then tested positive again after two weeks. However, after another 10 days I am now okay without any symptoms whatsoever," Heric tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"The trouble with this virus is that you can test positive without showing any symptoms, so many people are walking around with it unaware.
"We had about 10 players testing positive without showing any symptoms, so they didn't train or play, and we then lost matches since we had to bring kids in to play.
"I have no issues that I lost my job because of Covid-19 and all I need to do now is plan the way forward from here. I am always a coach who keeps himself refreshed by keeping myself updated so that when the practicals start then I will be ready."
The 54-year-old former Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila mentor further offered insight into his experience of dealing with the virus that has killed more than 40 000 South Africans thus far.
"The stigma with this virus is such that some people might think that I am still struggling in hospital, yet I was never even admitted. I am perfectly okay," says Heric.
