Chiefs midfielder Lebese aims to build on showing in MTN8 win over Maritzburg United

The skilful midfielder inspired defending champions Amakhosi's 5-3 comeback win over United in the MTN8 Cup quarterfinal. His brace helped Chiefs to reach the semifinals of the lucrative competition.

"For me its just to continue from last season, I think I had a fair season," Lebese says.

"Score more goals, since the coach came here, he has been pushing that we need to get numbers in the box and you know when you're in the box anything can happen and that's result of my second goal. I got a rebound because I was in the box, if not then I was not going to get the ball.

"So I think I need to continue working hard and my teammates also need to get the credit because they have been pushing me and assisting me in getting goals so it's not an individual performance. It comes from the whole team."

Lebese says Steve Komphela's half-time talk sparked them into life in the second half as they remain on course for a second successive MTN8 crown.

"The coach said to us we're champions, it's in our DNA and we need to show it on the field. We were two goals down all credit to them but we could get the same if not more in second half so it more about getting back and playing like champions and coach stressed that much and that's what we did."
