Baroka have reached the semi finals of the competition twice, in 2011 and 2016 and believe they can get their hands on the trophy this time round.
“Nedbank [Cup] owes us and we owe Nedbank. We want that cup to come here,” Mphahlele told reporters at the club’s 10-year anniversary celebrations
In their 10 years of existence, Baroka have enjoyed a fairytale rise to the top flight of South African football. Along the way, they have given opportunities to players such as Phalane Lantshene, Thobani Mncwango Gift Motupa and Thabiso Kutumela.
Mphahlele has bigger dreams for the next 10 years, such as wanting to see the club in the “top four” of South African football with Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“This club in the next must be the top four of this country. There’s the so-called top three, we want to be in the top four amongst those three teams from Gauteng,” he said.
On the club's 10 year existence, Mphahlele said: “I’d say it was a long road, but we have enjoyed our journey. I am not regretting anything.
"We planned and things happened the way we planned them, through hard work and commitment. Now this year, in the PSL, we are going to do more than the best.
“We have signed international players this year. I think we will do well. I don’t have any fear, we are not going to fail.”
Baroka, meanwhile, revealed that the deal to sign veteran midfielder David Mathebula fell through because they did not agree on terms.
