It's no secret that both Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs command a huge following in neighbouring countries including Namibia, but Sundowns' great exploits in the CAF Champions League in recent times have attracted many new fans across the continent.
The success of Peter Shalulile and Deon Hotto in the PSL has turned into an inspiring story for many youngsters with the duo becoming the pride of many Namibians who follow football.
Former Namibia national team coach Woody Jacobs says many Namibians are glued to their TV sets this evening to watch Shalulile and Hotto as Sundowns host Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals at Loftus Stadium.
"The Namibians are so proud of not just Deon and Peter but the entire Namibian contingent playing in the South African premier league and will be glued to their television sets," Jacob tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"Chiefs and Pirates have enjoyed a big fan base here in Namibia and now with PS [Peter Shalulile] setting the stadiums alight in Sundowns, I am sure they have won a big number of Namibian fans. Many fans in Namibia will definitely be watching the game.
"They are really doing well, with Shalulile in particular a better performer for his club at the moment. But Deon hasn't also performed badly for Pirates. So it's going to be a good match-up and the country will be watching for sure.
"We are so proud of our boys in SA and I am sure that coaches and players [in Namibia] are using their performance over there as a form of motivation and inspiration for upcoming footballers. So Proudly Namibian!"
