Orlando Pirates midfielder Bernard Morrison reveals he had to prove himself to the supporters

Morrison has featured sporadically for much of the season, but returned to the line-up and struck twice as Pirates advanced in the Nedbank Cup.

The Ghanaian forward revealed that assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena told him before the match that it was his last chance to save his career at the club.

“First of all I give thanks to the management, the technical team for giving me this opportunity to represent this club again. There was a lot of speculation that I would be leaving but because of the confidence the technical team had in me they gave me the opportunity to stay in the club and represent this club again,” Morrison told SuperSport TV.

“I had a meeting with Rhulani [Mokwena] in the hotel before we got here. He said he’s giving this opportunity to perform because this is my game to prove to supporters and myself that I can do better, so if I don’t grab this opportunity there’s no way I’m going to represent this club again so I had to prove to Rhulani that I appreciate the opportunity he has given me," he added.
