Teams in a battle to play Pirates

Orlando Pirates's Nedbank Cup opponents are yet to be revealed, with the Soweto giants the only club in the competition who are unsure of who they will play in the round of 32.

The Buccaneers' opponents are set to come from the SAFA Mpumalanga region and the delay is due to an arbitration process.

It is understood that Crystal Lake had an improperly registered player on the bench in their 1-0 victory over Middelburg United during the Nedbank Cup preliminary fixtures.

"Yeah, there was an arbitration on the fourth of February, the two teams are in a battle. They both want to play against Orlando Pirates," an insider at SAFA Mpumalanga tells KickOff.

"In the Nedbank match, Crystal Lake had a defaulter on the bench, meaning in their matchday squad, they had someone who was not properly registered.

"Crystal Lake won that game 1-0, beating Middelburg United, but the game was played under protest," the source reveals.

"At this stage, Middelburg United has a 98 percent chance of winning the case. But everything will be much clearer after the arbitration (ruling). Middelburg did proper research before going to arbitration."
