For records sake, the last top league domestic football final played at Loftus was the 2007 Telkom Knockout cup when Kaizer Chiefs overcame Mamelodi Sundowns on penalties.
That night Itumeleng Khune saved three penalties as Chiefs won their seventh consecutive cup final meeting against Sundowns.
Since then, the venue has been used for the 2009 FIFA Confederation Cup, 2010 FIFA World Cup, and 2017 CAF Super Cup.
In the period since Nedbank took over as sponsors of the national cup in 2008 none of the finals have been played in Tshwane with four at Moses Mabhida Stadium, and two at Orlando with Johannesburg Stadium, Rand Stadium, FNB, Mbombela, Nelson Mandela Bay, Peter Mokaba, Cape Town Stadium, Free State Stadium, Royal Bafokeng getting one each.
Of the stadiums used for the 2010 World Cup it will mean only Ellis Park has not staged a Nedbank Cup final after the latest decider goes to Loftus.
League champions Sundowns have been using Loftus as their home this season.
This year's final will pit either Orlando Pirates or Chiefs against Stellenbosch or Sekhukhune United.
All four clubs failed to score on their visits to Loftus to face Sundowns for league games this season.
Mato Madlala, the PSL acting Chief Executive Officer expressed confidence in having the final at Loftus while Khensani Nobanda, Group Executive of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Nedbank was also ecstatic.
