Mosele picks former Pirates star as toughest opponent

In a KickOff exclusive, Chippa United midfielder Goodman Mosele has picked a former Orlando Pirates star as his toughest opponent yet.

Mosele has been a standout performer for the Chilli Boys this season, having already collected two Man of the Match awards from his eight appearances.

Despite being only 23-year-old, the central midfielder is growing a reputation for dominating opponents in the middle of the part.

In this interview with KickOff, Mosele reveals he's not always come out on top in the midfield battle, recalling an encounter with Sekhukhune United captain and former Pirates midfielder Linda Mntambo.

"If I had to choose my toughest opponent, it would have to be Mntambo, he was still at Pirates. I still remember that game, it was Baroka against Orlando Pirates," Mosele said.

"He [Mntambo] was too quick for me, his energy. He seemed like he could just run the entire match and I couldn't keep up with him.

"Because of that, I was late with all my tackles, I think I even got a yellow card in that match because my tackles were late.

"Well I'm a bit older now and so is he, so I'm not sure how it would go now (laughs). We'd have to see how it goes, but he is a really top player."

Mosele is spending the season at Chippa on loan from Pirates while Mntambo is nursing long term knee injury at Sekhukhune United.

Having won three of their last five league matches, Chippa will be aiming to maintain their momentum when they take on AmaZulu on Saturday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Kick-off is at 17:45.
