EXCLUSIVE: Pirates to beat PSL rivals to Tau?

Orlando Pirates are said to be in the process of completing the signing of one of the most exciting talents from Witbank ahead of the transfer window period deadline on Friday.

When the deal is finalised as is expected, Pirates would have beaten Sekhukhune United for the signature of eMalahleni United midfielder Sibusiso Tau, who has already said his goodbyes in Mpumalanga before travelling to Gauteng on Monday.

Tau was spotted by the roving eye of the Soweto giants' scouts during the Pirates Cup held in Johannesburg in April this year.

The 17-year-old star has joined defender Dimpho Madalane, affectionately known as 'Khalabemgeza', who was also signed by the Mighty Buccaneers from eMalahleni. The latter is touted as the next Happy Jele.

According to a source close to the club, Tau, once signed, will train with the DStv Diski Challenge team whilst the club will be trying to secure him a school around Johannesburg in an effort to assist him in completing his matric this year.

"He is a top player in Witbank. Pirates look to have made a great signing. He is a midfielder. He can defend and attack. He is brave on the field for his age. They have been following his progress since the Pirates Cup. Sekhukhune United were also interested, but it appears they've been beaten to his signature.

"One of Dr. [Irvin] Khoza's sons has been making hard efforts to secure his services in Witbank. He arrived in Johannesburg on Monday," said the source.

A source at eMalahleni United has confirmed Tau's move to the City of Gold but declined to comment about the player signing on the dotted line with the MTN8 finalists.

"I can only confirm that the boy has left for Johannesburg. He deserves the next stage of his soccer career. He is one of the top talents we have on the team. Our main ambition is to develop and hopefully, more of our youngsters will move to PSL teams soon," the insider tells KickOff.

Tau will be joining other players from Witbank, who include Innocent Mdledle, Dumisa Ngobe and Innocent Maela, to be linking up with Ezimnyama Ngenkani, where he will hope to hit the ground running when given the opportunity, which is expected to be a gradual process once his move is confirmed.
