The 33-year-old contributed a decent return of four goals and five assists in 25 appearances for the Sea Robbers in his first season.
However, in his second campaign, his time on the field has drastically reduced to just 11 appearances and his contribution to a single goal.
As versatile as the diminutive attacker is, it does not help his case that Pirates have welcomed several players in his position in the form of Lesedi Kapinga, Karim Kimvuidi. Katlego Otladisa as well as the emergence of Relebohole Mofokeng.
With more arrivals expected to hide the Buccaneer's shores next season, questions have been raised on whether Erasmus is worth keeping into the 2023/24 season.
For club legend Shakes Gwabeni, the star is still worth keeping.
"I think for me he (Erasmus) has to stay," Gwabeni told KickOff.
"I think he brings a lot of experience into that team. You don't have to always be on the pitch to influence the game. He helps the players you know. He's been there, he's played all the big games you know he's a big-game player.
"He's won all the trophies, so it always helps to have players like that."
