Riveiro confirms possible European move for Pirates starlet

Reports emerged on Wednesday that the 18-year-old had left South African shores to undergo an assessment with a club in the United Kingdom.

Addressing the media at the Carling Knockout press briefing on the same day, Riveiro confirmed that club in question is Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers and expressed his well wishes for the teenager.

"About Rele (Mofokeng), I'm absolutely convinced that he is ready for whatever is coming. He is at the proper age," Riveiro said.

"Maybe here [in South Africa] it looks like early, 18 but not for me. If you follow the current situation in Europe, 17,18, 19 and 20, it's really frequent in the top teams to get your to get their first minutes in the first team.

"We have to - little by little - probably also change our vision of the youngsters. When you are ready you are ready, It doesn't matter if you are 18 or 28.

"If you are ready to do it, you are ready. When you have the level you are ready.

"In this case, we all know the type of talent Rele is and everything is in his hands now to use this opportunity. Trust me, we are more than happy to see Rele in this situation and hopefully, he can make it and hopefully, he is not the last one."

Pirates take on Cape Town Spurs at Orlando Stadium on Friday. Kick-off is at 19:30.
