Greenlight for long-awaited Bucs attacker

Orlando Pirates have been handed a potential boost with the return to action of a key player ahead of their CAF Champions League match.

The Soweto giants have a massive second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal against Algerian giants MC Alger, whom they beat 1-0 away from home last week.

It appears head coach Jose Riveiro will have one more attacking option to choose from with striker Zakhele Lepasa edging closer to full match fitness.

The 27-year-old has endured an injury-riddled season and has yet to play a single competitive match.

However, Lepasa has been undergoing light training in recent weeks and was spotted fully involved in the side's training session on Monday, signalling a full recovery.

The Bafana Bafana international, who netted 10 goals in 23 appearances for Bucs last term, will however find playing time hard to come by owing to stiff competition for a starting berth up front.

More so seeing Riveiro prefers using one striker in his line-up, with Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa sharing the load of getting the bulk of the goals for the men in Black and White.

Makgopa has started in three of the last five inter-club matches. He has eight goals in 32 appearances from all competitions.

For his part, Mabasa has 13 goals from 36 appearances in all competitions.

The Spanish tactician also has the option of young Boitumelo Radiopane, who has featured seven times in all competitions so far this season.
