Saudi Arabia

The Middle East and the Gulf region has become an attractive option not only for players but for coaches too. With the market in Saudi Arabia only beginning to emerge, coaches around the world are being sounded out and sought after. The latest coaches who have been in the PSL to have went to Saudi Arabia includes Pitso Mosimane and Josef Zinnbauer (via North Africa).

United States of America

Just like Saudi Arabia, the USA's Major League Soccer is an attractive option for coaches and players, in a marker that is also only recently growing it's variety in recruitment. South African coach Benni McCarthy, whose highest coaching as a head coach of a club is the PSL, was considered for one of the two teams in the MLS after going through interviews but was ultimately not successful.

Another South African Bradley Carnell, who was once an assistant coach at Pirates, has managed St. Louis City and currently in charge of Philadelphia Union.

Europe

As a native of Spain and having coached in Finland, before arriving in South Africa, Riveiro could have options in Europe after an impressive three years with Orlando Pirates. A pre-season tour of Spain for two seasons in a row could have marketed the 47-year-old coach or gave potential suitors an opportunity to analyze the level of South African football.

North Africa

Coaches in other parts of Africa have been flocking to North Africa of late, starting with Mosimane and including the likes of Rulani Mokwena, Zinnbauer and Fadlu Davids and Sead Ramovic. However, with concerns over financial security in North Africa, it remains to be seen if Riveiro would also take the risk.

Sabbatical

After three gruelling years at the Buccaneers and far away from his home Riveiro would have the option of taking a sabbatical and assess his future without any rush. The Vigo native could enjoy some time off to reflect on his journey that has made him the longest-serving coach and arguably the most successful in the Soweto giants' PSL history.
