Cole Alexander is without a club after leaving Helsingborg IF, and is hoping to secure himself a deal in Polokwane.

Rise and Shine head coach Phuti Mohafe says the age of the 34-year-old won't be taken into consideration when a decision is made.

"We are trying to keep the very same team we had in the first round," Mohafe tells KickOff.

"We will see in a week or two if we can bring one or two new players. I'm happy with our first round though, the boys did well. We want to keep ourselves around position 7 and 10 on the log. Yes, we've got Cole Alexander training with the team. I'm a bit skeptical, due to his lack of fitness I cannot say I'm 100% happy with him, but with time he will be fine.

"If he impresses then he will tend to be a very good edition. He might be at his current age, but what matters is what he does on the pitch. Themba Zwane is 34, and he is still going strong. So there is no difference, age is just a number.

"In the first round, we did have some experienced players in our team, but it was not enough. We are not yet safe from relegation, I can't say how many games I'm planning to win, as any team can beat any team in this league.

"Usually to survive you have to get the required 34 points. We are currently on 21."
