Polokwane City remain third on the Betway Premiership table following a goalless draw against Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon.
Ismail Watenga returned between the sticks for Arrows, while Rise and Shine were without star defender Thabang Matuludi due to suspension.
Moon got a chance to break the deadlock on seven minutes courtesy of a surging header at the far post of the box after a layoff, but he pulled well wide.
Rise and Shine launched a telling reply a couple of moments thereafter where a low penetrative strike from way out by Cole Alexander looked to find the bottom-corner, but Watenga collected.
The chances were pretty even from the moment on as Rise and Shine looked to Bafana star Oswin Appollis to cause havoc before Moon, Nduduzo Sibiya proved key for Abafana Besthende.
Moon again could a perfect chance to unlock proceedings on the stroke of halftime from a smart build-up, but slammed well across the face of goal.
Abafana Besthende didn't stop probing as the second half got underway and were inches to the lead when Velemseni Ndwandwe snapped his lines from a free-kick.
City themselves got a route to go clear from a set-play just minutes afterwards in a dangerous position, but star man Appollis nestled well off the mark.
It became stretched contest of sorts where at the other end Moon came close again off the head from a goal-mouth scramble, but he was guarded by Manuel Sapunga.
Abafana Besthende hauled in four attacking figures in the later stages in Kagiso Malinga, Olwethu Ncube, Tebogo Tlolane and Menzi Masuku.
Both teams had a got at one another with the final whistle ticking away though neither showed the desired efficiency and goalless it ended.
