Richards Bay extend unbeaten run after Chippa stalemate

Richards Bay FC extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the Betway Premiership after a goalless draw against Chippa United.

Fresh faces by the host from the draw with Stellenbosch FC saw Ndaba replace Mabua before rising striker Ntlonelo Bomelo replaced Mxolisi Macuphu, while Siphelo Baloni and Ronaldo Maarman picked out the shake-up from the visitors.

Ndaba seek to get the host ahead within the midway quarter through a relentless long-range drive by Thulani Gumede, but he unfortunately struck the post.

The bright opening didn't carry through the remainder of the half, as the contest became pretty tepid with extremely little forward ventures.

Richards Bay looked to the bench after halftime and introduced Lindokuhle Zikhali in the place of Gumede, while Chippa removed Nga for Azola Matrose.

The chances to goal on either side remained limited, as a majority of the play centred on possession and well around the middle of the park.

Richards Bay fancied the opening more though when Justice Figareido came close with a clever shot from a decent position, but in the end went wide.

Substitute Bomelo also came inches to giving the host the lead through a nicely worked shot from the edge of the area, but Stanley Nwabali managed a save.

With no goals on either side, the points were shared as the Natal Rich Boys continued their steady rise whereas Chippa's top eight ambitions remain in the balance.

Confirmed line-ups:

Richards Bay: Magoola, Gcaba, Ndaba, Allan, Mcineka, Mthethwa, Gumede, Mthembu, Macuphu, Mohlamme, Figareido

Chippa United: Nwabali, Madingwana, Makhele, Molaoa, Modise, Baloni, Kammies, Philander, Maarman, Kwayiba, Eva Nga

Subs: Johnson, Konqobe, Mqokozo, Matrose, Sakala, Chabalala, Bonani, Ntsabo, Tyongwana
