Former PSL coach to resume career following controversial arrest

Former Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila coach Lucky 'Muchichwa' Nelukau has spoken out after being cleared by the courts for case that has dragged his name through the mud since the beginning of the year.

Nelukau has appeared at the Vumani Magistrates Court since January on gun-related charges.

Since the case was reported to the cops and went through to the courts, Nelukau was suspended by TTM prior to their relocation to Bloemfontein and subsequent relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

"The issue at hand is that my name was dragged through the mud through all these allegations that were not true," Nelukau tells KickOff.

"Most of the people don't know the truth which is that the case has now been withdrawn.

"The boys that made all the allegations were not telling the truth because they are thieves who stole from my house and even hired security to guard my house until the boys were found.

"When the cops wanted to arrest those boys, I asked them to stop because the boys promised to bring my valuables the following day.

"Strangely when I was at training the following day on a Friday, the cops called me and when I got to the police station, I was accused of having wanted to shoot those boys.

"The case had been opened and as a public figure, it became bad because I was arrested for a case involving a gun and spent a week locked up.

"I missed the match against JDR Stars the next day.

"After having been to court several times, I was released on R5000 bail but I also opened a counter case and got those boys arrested because the police went to their homes and found my valuables which includes furniture, boots and clothes.

"So, since the beginning of the year, I have been going to the courts until last week Wednesday when the case was thrown out.

"This was just a campaign to ruin my name for merely doing a coaching job while wearing military outfits.

"My name has been put in a bad light and now that the case is over nobody has been interested.

"I was suspended from the team (TTM) for this case.

"I'm an arrogant coach who believes in himself and some people hate that about me.

"I'm for discipline as a coach and leading my team to the benefit of the team and my team president (Masala Mulaudzi) can attest to that.

"Look, my track record as a coach shows how well I did in reaching the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

"I have done my part in football, but this one small issue has now ruined my career.

"Right now, my name is associated with this case instead of what I have done as a coach," says Nelukau.
