In this edition of My First, former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Charles Motlohi shares with KickOff his first experiences in life.
My First School:
"Mojaho Primary School, located in Welkom in the Free State. At first, I was nervous, but thanks to football, I became popular among my fellow students.
"You know how it is with football, it even makes girls attracted to you."
My First Love:
"[Laughs] Let me think... I have had quite a few experiences! My wife might get upset if she thinks I'm still involved with any of those girls. So, let's not get her suspicious!"
My First Favourite Club:
"I used to really love Kaizer Chiefs. I was a big fan of Ace Ntsoelengoe, Teenage Dladla, and Jingles Parreira."
My First Child:
"I was 27 years old when my first child was born. She has grown into a big sister now."
My First Soccer Boots:
"Patrick. Do you remember that brand? My uncle bought them for me. To be honest, they were quite heavy, but as a kid, I was just excited to own a pair of soccer boots."
My First Red Card:
"I never received a red card in professional football. From my time at Bloemfontein Celtic to Sundowns, I was never sent off."
My First Own Goal:
"I have never scored an own goal in professional football."
My First Goal:
"My first goal was while playing for Bloemfontein Celtic. I scored against Santos, and I believe it came from one of my trademark long-range shots. Unfortunately, we lost that match 4-2."
My First Individual Award:
"It was at Sundowns when I was voted Man of the Match against SuperSport United."
My First Trophy with a Club:
"The 1998 league title with Sundowns. I still have my medals to this day."
My First Car:
"My first car was a Hyundai, which I bought in 1998 for R42,000."
