Royal AM’s R600k pending bill

The opening of the new transfer window on Monday will come with Royal AM still frozen from entering the market as their lighter bill remains unsettled.

Royal AM have two cases pending with FIFA that have left them locked out from the transfer window since last year.

While Samir Nurkovic's matter which relates to millions is now at the Court of Arbitration (CAS) with the club appealing FIFA's ruling, there is yet another 'smaller' issue of Ricardo Nascimento still hanging.

Nascimento took up his breach of contract dispute against Royal AM to FIFA last year after failed attempts to resolve the matter amicably with the club.

The Brazilian was then handed an award of R600 000 (effective September 2023 with an interest of 5% per annum).

Royal AM still didn't comply by paying and were then subsequently handed a three-window transfer ban in January 2024, following which they requested a motivated decision from FIFA, before subsequently withdrawing their CAS appeal.

With weeks turning into months, the club then changed their legal representative in the matter from Leruma Thobejane of Botha Massyn and Thobejane Attorneys to Eben Koen from BDP Attorneys.

Koen has made efforts to engage Pedro Felipe Gomes da Silva – partner of RA Law firm based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, who represent Nascimento – seeking to settle the matter.

However, for all the communication, the latest update gathered by this website is that no money has reflected in Nascimento's account.

This means the three-window ban will remain in place for Royal AM, who survived the risk of falling into the Play-Offs on the last day.

FIFA will only lift the ban once they get the greenlight from the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender, who will have accepted the offer and received it in his account.
