Former SuperSport United player Brent Carelse believes several factors are contributing to the club's current loss of form.
The Pretoria outfit is now facing the threat of relegation, sitting at 15th in the Betway Premiership table while they have also parted ways with head coach Gavin Hunt.
Carelse argues that the club's struggles on the pitch are not due to their reputation as a selling club.
SuperSport has lost some of its best talent to financially stable Premier Soccer League clubs.

"SuperSport has never been a relegation team, nor have they been a mid-table team," Carelse tells KickOff.
"It's very strange to see them in this position. From the beginning of the season, the coach has expressed frustration about not being able to sign the players he wants.
"Money is a significant problem for soccer teams in our country. However, SuperSport has never been a team that complains about its budget. So, it's quite unusual to see them in this situation.
"In the last transfer window, they managed to sign players like Samir Nurkovic. They also brought Maboe from Sundowns on loan. So it's not as if they lack quality.
"Moreover, some players who left for Sundowns or Pirates are not even playing—like Maseko, who isn't getting game time at Sundowns.
"It ultimately comes down to management. The decisions being made by SuperSport's management are questionable. The way things are looking right now, the risk of relegation is real for SuperSport, which would be tragic for this institution.

"Their troubles began when DStv decided to sponsor the PSL, which has contributed to a reduction in finances. That said, with their youth structure and development system, SuperSport should be performing much better.
"Gavin Hunt is my coach, but to be honest, he could do more to help himself. He should have made some adjustments to the technical team. You can't have two goalkeepers as your assistants. He should have retained Thabo September; he's young and brings fresh ideas. While I'm not questioning the abilities of Andre Arendse and Grant Johnson, I'm not sure if they are adding value.
"I think it's a case of too much loyalty."
