Orlando Pirates defeated SuperSport United on penalties to secure their spot in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on Saturday afternoon.
The Buccaneers saw first-choice goalkeeper Sipho Chaine return while Tapelo Xoki, Paseka Mako and Evidence Makgopa were also back in Jose Riveiro's line-up.
Pirates got a huge scare in the opening minute when Ghampani Lungu opened-up his body to fashion in a shot from the area, but Chaine pulled off an equally fine save.
However, Makgopa squandered a big chance in the box a little later and instead laid off to Relebohile Mofokeng to hit first-time and straight at SuperSport goalkeeper Ricardo Goss.
Development graduate Mbekezeli Mbokazi got the breakthrough a minute to the half-hour mark as he riffled a loose clearance from the area in the top-corner.
Matsatsantsa were level two minutes to halftime when Chaine mis-judged a high-ball around his area and allowed Terrence Dzvukamanja to come inside for a simple finish.
Pirates regained the lead in quick succession as Makgopa helped a snap shot from Deon Hotto in the net with United caught square again at the back.
Matsatsantsa looked to go back on level terms and pinned the visitors earlier on in the half, but nothing of note emerged from the situation.
The host introduced their all-time leading scorer Bradley Grobler midway through the second half and removed midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu.
Uncertainty in the Buccaneers defence proved costly as Gape Moralo side-stepped a few challengers on the edge of the box and fired in to force the match to extra-time.
Christian Saile caused problems for the Buccaneers in the additional period and dragged a first-time shot from a tight angle wide of the bottom-corner.
The Buccaneers piled on the pressure late on as Goss pulled off a solid point-blank save off a powerful left-footed shot from Hotto, seeing the clash to a penalty shoot-out.
Chaine was the hero in the shoot-out when he denied Saile in sudden-death, whilst Goodman Mosele rifled into the roof of the net to see the Buccaneers in the last four.
