Esperance to edge out Chiefs for Bafana star

Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis look set to edge out Kaizer Chiefs for the services of Bafana Bafana star Elias Mokwana, after it was rumoured that the player prefers a move to Naturena.

Up to this point, both Esperance and Amakhosi engaged in a fierce battle for Mokwana's signature following his impressive performances in the DStv Premiership last season.

The Sekhukhune United winger was also linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, but it now appears he could relocate to North Africa in time for the 2024/25 season.

The Tunis club is believed to have submitted a strong offer to Babina Noko for the talented midfielder and both clubs could seal the deal before the end of this week.

According to a source close to Sekhukhune, Esperance have improved their offer, and talks between the two clubs are 'promising'.

"The clubs are finding each other. The negotiations are going well. The Tunis club has put in a better offer than Kaizer Chiefs. It looks promising and the player might move to Tunisia next season," said the source.

Mokwana's agent, Pontsho Madumo, declined to comment on the latest developments regarding his client.

"I am not ready to comment about anything until I get an official word from Sekhukhune United. As it stands, for now Mokwana is Sekhukhune United player and is part of their pre-season training," Madumo tells KickOff.
