Chiefs lost 3-1 to their arch-rivals, who they will meet again in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout at FNB Stadium on November 7.
Steve Komphela's men will first host PSL returnees Golden Arrows at the same venue on Tuesday.
"There were a few bad passes and they played mostly in their own half," said Muguyo, who travelled from Zimababwe to watch the game in Johannesburg on Saturday.
"It's a derby and I think some players were scared and didn't show up. Today they didn't play the way I see on TV. I came here to watch them live because they always do well.
"I think they will respond, they have the players. In the last few minutes of the game they showed a little bit better, something they didn't show in the first half. I believe they will change things in the next match."
Meanwhile, Muguyo revealed he is still involved in the game on a development level in his home country.
"I am busy with school juniors football. That's what I am busy with at the moment."
Muguyo was the first player to score a hat-trick in a Soweto Derby in a BP Top 16 semi-final replay in 1975.
