Ernst Middendorp updates on Kaizer Chiefs' Soweto Derby casualties

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has issued an update on the various casualties suffered in the weekend's Soweto Derby, raising just one major concern.

Chiefs' recent victory over rivals Orlando Pirates did not come without cost, with four players having come out with battle wounds.

While the victory is one to savour, Middendorp quickly turned his attention to the preparations for their next battle at home to relegation threatened AmaZulu on Saturday.

There is a threat of missing a number of players in the lead-up to the match, however the German is most concerned about captain Willard Katsande, who was forced off with a potentially serious knee injury.

"Leonardo had some issues or challenges with his back at half-time already, but we said, 'Okay, go another 10 minutes and then Khama will come in'," said Middendorp.

"There's obviously a number of knocks, which is normal when coming out of a Derby – there was Samir [Nurkovic], Lebogang Manyama, who we had to take out because of a knock to the calf.

"But I think the biggest question mark we have now that we need to identify and sort out is Willard Katsande, good, let's see."
