Chiefs surrendered their unbeaten record in the League with a 3-1 loss to arch-rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
Komphela conceded his team were below par but gave credit to Pirates for their energetic display at FNB Stadium.
"We had a bad day in the office," Komphela is quoted as saying on his club's website.
“My compliments go to Orlando Pirates. Pirates played with high energy.
“It’s never easy to lose a match, certainly not a Derby. When they got the ball, their transition forward was fast, with the intent to hit. Instead, we took it a bit slow in the transition. We have to go back to the drawing board and rectify this.”
The former Bafana Bafana captain added: "Each time we lose a match, the stakes get higher. It’s important that we respond to today’s set-back.”
Amakhosi will host Golden Arrows in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday before reving hostilities with Bucs in the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout on November 7.
