DONE DEAL: Stellenbosch snap up new striker

Stellenbosch FC have bolstered their squad with a new striker following the departure of Iqraam Rayners,

The Winelands outfit have completed the signing of Ashley Cupido from city rivals Cape Town Spurs.

The 23-year-old netted seven goals in 27 matches during his debut campaign in the Premiership, although Spurs did suffer relegation.

"We're excited to welcome the talented 23-year-old to our ambitious club," Stellenbosch FC CEO, Rob Benadie, said, as per the club's website.

"He is a player who will fit our system well and who we believe has the ability to consistently feature at the top end of the PSL's goal-scoring charts."

The Carling Knockout Cup champions also confirmed that striker Mervin Boji will be heading to Spurs on a permanent deal.

"Mervin is a local hero who we believe will take this opportunity to get more consistent game time and realise his full potential," Benadie added.

"He was instrumental in our reserve team winning two DStv Diski Challenge titles, scoring 31 goals in 30 appearances in the competition, and we have no doubt that he will succeed in this new challenge."
