Former Pirates goalkeeper wanted in Tshwane

SuperSport United are believed to be leading the race to sign towering Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori as part of their plan to reinforce their squad for next season.

Matsatsantsa are currently looking to fill a void between the sticks following Ricardo Goss' return to parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Goss spent the past two seasons on loan at the club from The Brazilians.

The 30-year-old goal minder made 25 appearances for the Gavin Hunt-led side and was on the bench when Bafana Bafana drew 1-1 against Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier last Friday.

The Tshwane-based outfit currently has Washington Arubi as a reserve goalkeeper.

According to sources close to SuperSport, the club has extended their search to outside the country in a bid to find Goss' replacement with next season looming large.

"SuperSport United have identified Richard Ofori as their main target for their goalkeeping department. They are also busy looking outside the country and a few names have already been recommended to the club," said one source.

Meanwhile, SuperSport have decided against renewing Tanzanian Abdulrazack Mohamed Hamza's contract.

The 21-year-old defender joined the Randburg-based side at the beginning of the past season, on a short-term deal, but after a mere four starts in all competitions all season, coupled with a single appearance from the bench in the league, he has been deemed surplus to requirements.

Matsatsantsa are also expected to release midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange after failing to command regular game-time in the past season.
