In this edition of My Dream Team, former SuperSport United player Japie Motale names the ten best players he played alongside and faced in his football career.
What formation?
"4-5-1"
Goalkeeper
"He was one of the best goalkeepers in the country but most underrated, or maybe that's because he was playing for the so-called smaller team (Jomo Cosmos).
Defenders
"Happy Jele. The best right-back and always consistent.
"Japie Motale will be the left-back. All I can say is, if you are going to war take Japie Motale with you.
"Themba Mnguni will be one of the center-backs, very strong and intelligent, he can read the game very well.
"I will also put Lucky Lekgwathi, very quick and comfortable on the ball."
Midfield
"Doctor Khumalo. One of the best midfielders South Africa ever produced.
"Thapelo Liau. Slow but you will never win the ball against him, very skillful.
"Sphiwe Tshabalala, one of the gifted left-footed players South Africa produced.
"Steve Chippa Lekoelea. I managed to play with him from the South Africa Under-17 team up to the senior team. What a player.
"Junaid Hartley. Very skillful. And what Lionel Messi is doing now I saw Hartley doing back in the day."
Strikers
"Katlego Mashego. A very good player and also talented. He never struggled to score goals."
Substitutes
"Edward Motale, skillful defender. Cavan Mafika Sibeko, has a very good left foot and he can pass the ball.
"Lebohang Kukame. Very clever player and quick.
"July Mahlangu. Intelligent player.
"Patrick Labella. Has potential as a goalkeeper.
"Manqoba Mkhize. Very good left-footed player and a quick thinker of the ball.
"Joel Masilela. Best winger that gave full-backs sleepless nights."
