SuperSport maintain faith in scouting department

SuperSport United CEO Stan Mathews has given his blessing to the departure of defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe to Kaizer Chiefs after agreeing to a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs.

The 24-year-old defender spent a five-year spell at SuperSport after joining Matsatsantsa in 2018 from Township Rollers in Botswana.

The defender's departure did not go down well with head coach Gavin Hunt who questioned the club in failing to keep the Botswana international.

"I cannot complain about a player leaving on a pre-contract when I have signed over 200 players on pre-contracts myself at the football club over the years.

"You live by the sword, you need to know one day, you are going to receive a sword.

"It doesn't affect me whatsoever.

"I am tremendously happy for TT who could go and make that kind of money at Kaizer Chiefs, so hats off to him, he deserves it, and his family deserves it.

"TT is going to be a son of the club in the future now, he is going to be in the front of magazines, and he is going to get all the limelight because he will represent Kaizer Chiefs.

"SuperSport was wonderful for him. I am not discouraged by that at all. I have got tremendous faith in my chief scout Paul Mathews.

"He recruited TT from nowhere, and now has become a big brand in the PSL.

"Paul has done his job, he brought me Patrick Maswanganyi when no one had ever heard of Patrick, and now everybody wants to sign him."
