The South African Football Association (SAPFU) has described the Moroka Swallows situation as a disaster.
Swallows players embarked on strike action and could not honour their DStv Premiership encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns.
"It's a disaster, since Tuesday we've had meetings with players, Wednesday we've had meetings with players, at noon we had a meeting with the Swallows management, it's been hectic," vice president at SAPFU Tebogo Monyai tells KickOff.

"But the fact of the matter is that the players did not barge, they did not want to play until their December salary is paid before the Sundowns match.
"Remember, for the SuperSport United game, there were similar threats but we attended to it and the monies were paid on Friday. As a union, we listen to what the players want. We can't listen to anyone else.
"What's next is for the club to pay the players, the players have contracts with the club, and the club must honour those contracts. The club financially, they are not in a good state to be able to solve the matter now. The club decided to write a letter to the PSL and tried to cancel their match against Sundowns and Golden Arrows, and for that, they forfeited six points, plus there'll be a fine from the league," he added.

"This is a solidarity matter between ourselves and the players, players are our bosses, and we listen to what they say. They have a contract that says they are getting paid on the 31st, on the last business day of the month.
"It's not yet the last business day of the month, but the players are saying the chairman of the team assured them that they will be getting their salaries on the 22nd of December, he is the one who said that to them and they never asked him, but never happened, they say.
"But now the very same chairman is changing the tune and says they will be getting paid on the 31st of December (on a Sunday). It's also a tough situation for the club owners when you don't have a sponsor.
