Darren Keet finds little reason to leave Bidvest Wits despite contract ending

Keet, who has previously been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, is in the third year of his second spell with the Clever Boys and he's done well for them over the years, helping them to the Absa Premiership title as well as the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout.

Discussions about extending his deal with Wits are ongoing, but he has to discuss things with his wife first before making a final decision.

"At the moment it is what it is. My contract's up at the end of the season and we will see what plans are in hand for me. We've been discussing me staying and looking at the options that are available," Keet said during a media open day at Wits on Wednesday morning.

"Wits has been a great club for me. I've been here, I left and I came back. So this is home for me, this is where I've always wanted to be. It's where I've grown up pretty much.

"It's been fantastic and anything I can pay due to the club... but the future is in mine and my wife's hands. We will discuss it accordingly and we will see what comes out of it."

The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper explained why he would not be interested in joining other PSL clubs.

"Obviously there's always going to be interest around players in South Africa and it's no different for me. My contract is coming to an end and if a player is free it makes it easier for clubs because they don't have to pay transfer fees and things like that," Keet explained.

"But I'm not looking to join any other club in South Africa. If anything, I'll stay at Wits. There's no better place for me to be. My family is happy, the club likes me and any money clubs offer me, Wits can pay me, so it's not even about money.

"We've got more chance of winning the league than many other clubs, so there's no reason for me to bother to want to leave."
