Ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela bringing in his own assistant at Bloemfontein Celtic

Celtic chairman Max Tshabalala today confirmed the appointment of the former Kaizer Chiefs coach as a replacement for Veselin Jelusic, who resigned from Siwelele last week.

"Yes, it's true, he [Komphela] is our new coach," says Tshabalala.

According to a source, Komphela will bring in his own assistant.

"Komphela is bringing his own assistant coach," says the informant.

"They are talking to a few people and another one is a former Bafana Bafana player."

Komphela quit his job at Chiefs with three games to go last season after a Nedbank Cup semi-final loss to Free State Stars condemned the Soweto giants to three years without silverware under his watch and triggered a fan riot at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Jelusic steered Phunya Sele Sele, which has been put on the market, to the Telkom Knockout final and an 11th-place finish in the league in his single season with the club.
