A long list of managers parted ways with their respective teams at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Here's a look at the nine coaches who were sacked or walked away from their roles during the spectacular showpiece.
The latest AFCON concluded in thrilling fashion on Sunday night, when hosts Ivory Coast claimed what was, at one point for them, an unforeseeable title.

The side had quite a tumultuous time at the tournament as they parted company with manager Jean-Louis Gasset after the group stage, when the team was on the verge of an early elimination but survived thanks to being one of the four best third-placed teams.
The Frenchman was replaced in an interim basis by assistant coach Emerse Fae, who completed a monumental turnaround and guided the Elephants to African glory.
The Ivorians were not the only juggernauts to cut ties with their head coach at the showpiece, though.
Algeria and Tunisia both parted ways with their respective managers Djamel Belmadi and Jalel Kadri. While the former was sacked after the Algerians finished bottom of their group, the latter actually resigned from the Tunisian helm after they, too, finished bottom of their group and lost to minnows Namibia in the process, who are currently ranked 87 spots below them on the FIFA rankings.
According to BBC Sport Africa, the president of Algeria's football federation said: "I met with Djamel and we reached an amicable agreement to dissolve the association. We thank Djamel for everything he did for the team and wish him good luck in the rest of his career."
The dismissal of Ghana and Egypt's head coaches certainly dominated headlines. Chris Hughton was the first to go in Ivory Coast, being let go by the Super Eagles after failing to reach the round of 16.
"The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior National team with immediate effect," a GFA statement read. It was also noted that Hughton's entire technical team would also be dissolved as a result.Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria was given his marching orders by Egypt a while later, after the seven-time champions failed to win a single game at the tournament before their elimination in the round of 16.
Vitoria has since been replaced by the country's all-time leading goalscorer Hossam Hassan, ending an almost-two-year stint in charge of the Pharaohs.
Here all the managers who vacated their roles during the latest AFCON:
Chris Hughton – Ghana
Hubert Velud – Burkina Faso
Jean-Louis Gasset – Ivory Coast
Tom Saintfeit – Gambia
Jalel Kadri – Tunisia
Djamel Belmadi – Algeria
Adel Amrouche – Tanzania
