Al Ahly to enquire for Pitso's staff member?

African giants Al Ahly SC are reportedly showing interest in one of Pitso Mosimane's trusted technical staff for the 2025/26 season.

The Red Devils have parted ways with head coach Marcel Koller after being eliminated from the CAF Champions League by Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals.

Koller's team was stunned by the Betway Premiership giants on the away goal rule, as they ended in a 1-1 draw in the second leg in Cairo on Friday, following a goalless stalemate in Pretoria.

Now, with the 64-year-old coach dismissed, Al Ahly is on the lookout for a new head coach, who is anticipated to arrive with his technical staff members, while also seeking to incorporate some already at the club.

According to Arabic publication Algomhor.com, Al Ahly are interested in bringing South African performance analyst Musi Matlaba to the club, who is currently a free agent after parting ways with the Iran Pro League club Esteghlal FC.

Matlaba has been working with Mosimane since their time at Masandawana. The seasoned analyst has secured two Champions League titles, one league title, and several major trophies with Al Ahly between 2020 and 2022.

It is reported that the 12-time Champions League winners are intending to revamp their technical staff ahead of the new season, and Matlaba is regarded as an ideal candidate for the performance analyst role.

Reports have suggested that Al Ahly will end the current season under interim head coach Emad El-Nahhas, and it remains to be seen if Matlaba will ultimately rejoin the African giants next season.
