Tau on target as Al Ahly drop points in Tanzania

Percy Tau found the back of the net as Al Ahly drew 1-1 with Young Africans in their CAF Champions League Group A clash on Saturday evening.

Ahly showed Bafana Bafana international Percy Tau, who was a second half substitute against FC Medeama a run up top flanked by Mahmoud Kahraba, Hussein El Shahat and Emam Ashour.

In a promising start that saw chances either side, the holders looked to draw the first punch from a long-range strike by Kahraba but he didn't find the intended target.

Although, an instant response from the home team followed when a run deep around the box culminated in a penetrative shot by Clement Mzize though Mohamed El-Shenawy collected.

Emam was next up in regards to a chance where he angled past a couple of bodies to get a sight of goal only to go wide a few minutes apart.

Young Africans were needed to introduce a substitution late in the half this off an injury on Lomalisa Mutambala, who had Nickson Kibabage take his spot.

Ashour was removed ahead of the second half by the reigning champions and saw another danger man in Mohamed Magdy Afsha come on in a direct switch up.

The Cairo Red Devils were quick out of the blocks and came within inches of the lead from the head of Rami Rabia after meeting Ali Maaloul's cross, but it was well plucked out.

Mzize responded to the threat minutes later to fire high and wide of target following on from a fast break-attack, while Kahraba at the other end strayed beyond target off an angled opening.

Both teams continued to go at each other but it was the Cairo Red Devils that went ahead through a well-rounded strike from Tau in the latter stages.

The lead didn't last long as the host clawed their way back in the dying minutes as Pacome Zouzoua caught the Egyptians napping to see the spoils shared.
