CONFIRMED: African giants axe 13 players in one go!

One of the Africa's biggest clubs has confirmed the exits of a whopping 13 players in one go.

Various clubs across the continent are still busy consolidating their transfer dealings ahead of yet another long season in domestic and CAF competitions.

One of the sides competing in the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup, Enyimba FC, has now confirmed wholesale changes to their squad, with as many as 13 players having now been axed.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Enyimba Football Club has announced the departure of 13 players from the team.

"The departed players are: Olorunleke Ojo, Desmond Ojietefian, Chigozie Chilekwu, Ngomere Chisom, Anthony Okachi, Chibuike Nwaiwu, James Orasonye, Chijioke Mbaoma, Ikenna Cooper, George Owen, MacBen Otika, Uche Collins, and Tochukwu Emmanuel.

"Enyimba FC expresses deep gratitude to these players for their dedication and contributions to the club. Their efforts have played a vital role in our journey, and they will always be remembered as valued members of the Enyimba family."

It is understood that four of these players have already struck deals to join new clubs, namely Ojo, Ojietefian, Chilekwu, and Otika.

Enyimba finished third in last season's Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), earning a spot in the Confederation Cup for the first time since the 2020/21 campaign, when they were knocked out at the quarter-final stage.

Enyimba will begin their 2024/25 NPFL against Beyond Limits on Saturday, 7 September.
