Ex-Sundowns star 'angers' Rulani at Wydad

A former Mamelodi Sundowns star has reportedly angered Rulani Mokwena at Wydad Athletic Club with his recent behaviour.

Ahead of their Botola Pro 1 clash against Hassania Union Sport Agadir, the South African tactician was left angered by a social media post made by Abdelmounaim Boutouil, which has since been deleted, according to Moroccan news site LeSiteInfo.

It is claimed that within the story the player shared on Instagram, how the manager wants to set up his defence for their upcoming fixture was explained.

The 26-year-old is said to have unwittingly revealed Mokwena's plan to accelerate his recovery so that he could be included in the team's games, with the picture posted to Boutouil's social media page suggested to have been one of himself with the manager.

The former Betway Premiership star returned to his home country prior to the start of the 2024/25 campaign after spending two years at Downs, for whom he made 31 appearances across all competitions.

His focus will now be on working with Mokwena to help get Wydad back to the top of domestic football after the Red Castle finished in sixth place in the league last season, missing out on continental football.

While it is believed the manager was angry at him for his now-deleted social media post, Boutouil will nonetheless be hoping to return to action as soon as possible and solidify his spot in the backline.

Wydad are currently third on the table after four games. Despite suffering a 1-0 loss on the opening day, the team bounced back to pick up two wins and a draw in their past three encounters.
