With South African stars in action across the continent over the weekend, Percy Tau's Al Ahly thrashed Khanyisa Mayo's CR Belouizdad, while Fadlu Davids and his Simba SC side ended the weekend atop the league table.
The Algerian team opened the scoring in the 21st minute, taking the lead through Aimen Mahious in their CAF Champions League encounter. The hosts, however, equalised just before the half-time whistle, thanks to a strike by Wessam Abou Ali, which ensured parity at the break.

Abou Ali then stole the spotlight with a stellar second-half display, netting two more goals. His first came from a perfectly executed free kick in the 51st minute, and the second was a stunning long-range effort in the 84th.
Hussein El Shahat and Percy Tau joined the scoring party, with Tau's sublime strike from outside the box adding to an already electrifying performance.
Emam Ashour rounded off the onslaught with a stoppage-time goal, sealing an emphatic 6-1 victory for the Egyptian giants.
This result places Belouizdad third in Group C with three points, while Al Ahly sit comfortably at the top with seven points, two clear of Orlando Pirates, who played to a draw against Stade d'Abidjan in the group's other Matchday Three fixture last week.
Meanwhile, Simba SC claimed first place in the Tanzanian Premier League table after a dominant 5-2 victory over Kagera Sugar FC on Saturday.
Steven Mukwala netted twice, while Mohamed Hussein, Shomari Kapombe, Jean Charles Ahoua, and Fabrice Ngoma also found the back of the net.
Cleophace Mkandala and Peter Datius managed late consolation goals for the home side, but Simba SC's commanding display ensured another victory for the Tanzanian giants.
Their latest triumph takes them to the top of the league, having won 11, drawn one, and lost just one of their 13 matches so far this season. They now hold a one-point lead over Sead Ramovic's Young Africans SC, setting the stage for an intense title race.
Elsewhere, Elias Mokwana was absent from the matchday squad as Esperance Sportive de Tunis played out a 2-2 draw against Club Africain in a Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 clash on Sunday.
