In-demand African star: I don't really like the Premier League

An in-demand African star may have dented the hopes of some big potential suitors after he revealed he does not like the English Premier League.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have added Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface to their attacking wish list as they are still in the market for a new striker.

It has been further suggested that the Nigerian ticks many of the boxes the Blues' recruitment team are interested in, and is believed to be an ideal fit for new manager Enzo Maresca's system.

Rivals Arsenal have also previously been linked with a move for the forward, but in a recent interview with Sporty TV YouTube channel, the 23-year-old revealed that England would not be his preferred destination should he move on from Leverkusen.

"No. I admit I did an interview before and I'm not saying this just because I'm on this level," Boniface said, per africanfootball.com.

"I've been saying this even before I had an international passport, even before I dreamed of coming to Europe, I don't really like the Premier League."

The Super Eagles star went on to reveal where he would like to ply his trade if he were to leave Die Werkself.

"I said this before. I prefer Spanish football or German football. I'm not saying, for example, a good team comes for me I will not go," Boniface added.

"But I am just saying if you ask me to pick two countries, I really want to play in Germany and Spain, to live and play in Germany and Spain."

Boniface scored 21 goals and collected 10 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions for the German outfit last season, helping the club win their first-ever Bundesliga title.

The forward has also made a sparkling start to the current campaign, having found the back of the net on four occasions in six appearances so far.
