Zinnbauer 'close' to dismissal after just 6 games

Ex-Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer is reportedly close to being dismissed by his latest club after just six games in charge.

The 54-year-old was appointed as Al Wehda's new boss in July this year, and made a decent start to the campaign.

The German tactician saw his new charges pick up a point against Al Riyadh in a 3-3 draw, before beating Al Orobah by two goals to one to make it four points from his opening two encounters with the team.

However, things quickly went downhill as Wehda were on the receiving end of a 7-1 thumping at the hands of Al Ittihad, followed by a 1-0 defeat to Al Kholood.

Last week, they managed to beat second-tier Saudi side Al Faisaly on penalties to progress to the round of 16 of the King Cup, but the manager's joy was short-lived as he suffered yet another defeat on Friday, this time to Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr.

As a result of his side's poor run of form, the Knights of Mecca are now seriously considering relieving the ex-Pirates head coach of his managerial duties, according to 365Scores, who cited reports out of Saudi Arabia.

His former team, Botola Pro 1 club Raja Club Athletic, meanwhile, are claimed to be monitoring the situation as they are said to be interested in bringing Zinnbauer back to Morocco.

This comes after the side, last week, parted ways with Bosnian coach Rusmir Cviko, who had been in charge for just six games since his arrival.

The Green Eagles qualified for this year's edition of the CAF Champions League, progressing past the preliminary rounds to qualify for the group stage. However, they have lost their first two league games and currently lie 13th on the league table.

Zinnbauer spent the 2023/24 campaign at Raja, famously leading them to both league and cup success without suffering a single defeat.
