For the time being, though, both those players remain contracted to the Cairo club, but the Red Devils have announced the departure of another one of their big stars, having confirmed the exit of French striker Anthony Modeste after just 10 months at the club.

The 26-year-old arrived in Egypt with high expectations, joined the Red Devils after parting ways with German giants Borussia Dortmund as a free agent.

However, the former Blackburn Rovers striker registered an underwhelming six goals in 31 appearances for the Club of the Century, although he did manage to win three trophies with the side, including the CAFCL.

"I am proud and grateful to have been a part of this historic club. I have worn and lived the eagle with honour.

"Thank you to all the fans for their incredible daily support and love. You are beyond great and made this experience truly special!

"I also want to thank the coaches, staff and above all my teammates! In the last 10 months, I have been able to gain a lot of new skills and learn so much more!

"Together as a team we have won three titles: Egyptian Cup Winner, Super Cup Winner and Champions League, which we are very proud of.

"The fourth title is just around the corner - the championship. Go get it – Yalla ya regala!

"Thank you to everyone who welcomed me, supported me and accompanied me on my little journey. I wish you all the best and continued success.
