Rulani's Wydad suffer another defeat in Morocco

Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Athletic Club have suffered yet another disappointing defeat, but the South African boss is confident "results will improve little by little".

Wydad slumped to their second defeat of the 2024/25 Botola Pro Inwi season on Wednesday evening, when they lost 2-0 to COD Meknes.

Mokwena's team is now fifth on the league standings after collecting three wins, two draws, and two defeats in their opening seven matches.

Notably, Wydad are yet to win a match away from home this season, with both their losses coming at away grounds.

However, the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss remains confident his side will turn its fortunes around.

Speaking after the match against Meknes, Mokwena took responsibility for the result, insisting that a lot of hard work still needs to be done.

"We made many mistakes and we were far from our level, we have to correct them," he said, according to Hespress.com.

"I think we didn't show the face we had to. I congratulate the Meknassi club on their victory, especially in the second half in which he appeared very strong.

"In the professional championship, there are many good teams, and I think we also have only a good team that needs to work hard.

"It's true that we don't have a magic wand, and I know that Al Wadd suffered both, which we work on a lot, and you know the work we do, we even sleep little and work hard for this club and its fans.

"I have confidence that the results will improve little by little, God willing."
