Simba star praises Fadlu Davids for 'exceptional job'

A Simba SC star has praised South African manager Fadlu Davids, describing the job he has been doing since arriving in Tanzania as "exceptional".

The Tanzanian giants are currently in fine form domestically, sitting in second place on the league table, just two points behind leaders Azam FC, with two games in hand.

Continentally, the Simba squad recently travelled to Algiers, where they are set to face CS Constantine at the Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui on Sunday.

Both teams are on three points in Group A, having secured wins in their opening matches. Simba defeated Bravos do Maquis 1-0, while CS Constantine earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien.

Heading into the encounter, midfielder Mzamiru Yassin expressed confidence in his side's chances of success in the continental tournament, courtesy of the work Davids and his coaching team have been doing since he took over earlier this year.

"Our technical bench is doing an exceptional job," Yassin said per IPPmedia.

"This is one of the best setups we've had in recent years, and it gives us confidence that we can reach the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup. However, achieving that requires hard work and focus."

The midfielder emphasised the team's readiness and acknowledged the challenge posed by their Algerian opponents.

"This is not an easy match, as some might think. Our opponents have already proven their strength by winning away against a strong team like CS Sfaxien, who are historically dominant in this competition," he said.

Yassin stressed the importance of returning to Tanzania with a positive result.

"We know they will be aiming for another win to boost their chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals," he added.

"However, we are determined to disrupt their plans. Our mission is to return home with three points, or at least one.

Simba will look to Davids' tactical acumen and the team's thorough preparation to continue their momentum on both domestic and continental fronts.
