Soweto giants-linked Aziz Ki finally breaks silence on future

Highly coveted African star Stephane Aziz Ki has now finally broken his silence on his future amid reported interest from the Soweto giants.

The Burkina Faso international ended the 2023/24 Tanzanian Premier League season as its top goalscorer with 21 goals.

His Golden Boot award caps off a stellar campaign for Young Africans, who clinched a historic 30th league title this term, their a third in a row over the past three seasons.

Worryingly for the team, though, Aziz Ki's contract is due to expire in June, although Yanga president Hersi Said was adamant earlier this week that none of his talented players, such as the 28-year-old, will depart in the next transfer window.

Said's resolute message comes after reports of various clubs being interested in the attacker, with both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs having been linked with the potential signing of the player.

Furthermore, a report by Sports World Ghana claims that Moroccan giants AS FAR Rabat have entered into negotiations with Aziz Ki's camp over a switch to north Africa, where he would reunite with his former Yanga boss Nasreddine Nabi.

The outlet claims that the Burkinabe star's entourage is demanding $700 000 (R13.1 million) per season, with AS FAR said to only be willing to pay $300 000 (R5.6 million) instead.

Nevertheless, Aziz Ki has now spoken for himself, seemingly indicating that next season he will be with the "same team".

"I can say thank you to fans. Thank you to the staff, and all my teammates. This Golden Boot is not for me alone. It is the work of the team and for everyone," he said after receiving the award, according to Africa Top Sports.

"I dedicate it to everyone, to fans because they all pushed me to go this far.

"Yes, yes, but I am sure we will come back stronger, inshallah, next season with the same team and the same people."
