One of the top nations in Africa has now revealed that they attempted to lure coach Hugo Broos away from Bafana Bafana but could not meet his contract demands.
Broos remains one of the most esteemed coaches in Africa, as he is among a few active managers on the continent to have won the Africa Cup of Nations following his triumph with Cameroon in 2017.

The Belgian has been in charge of Bafana Bafana since his appointment in May 2021 and looks set to remain in the job until his contract expires in June 2026, as per Transfermarkt.
The 72-year-old has spearheaded South Africa's resurgence in international football, lifting the side to rank among the top 10 CAF nations according to FIFA.
Additionally, he led Bafana to a bronze-medal finish at AFCON 2023 earlier this year, which is the country's highest finish at the tournament since 2000.
With his stock rising once more, Broos is now confirmed to have piqued the interest of the Tunisian national team following the recent AFCON.
However, a member of the committee appointed by FIFA to manage the affairs of the Tunisian Football Federation, Chedly Rahmani, revealed that they decided to withdraw their interest in Broos due to contractual demands.
Speaking to Radio Mosaique FM, Rahmani said: "Hugo Broos, we wanted him. The problem is that he wanted to come with his entire staff, and it would cost us €2.9 million (R54.3 million) per year. We don't have that budget."
Notably, reports in Tunisia earlier in the year claimed that current Kaizer Chiefs boss Nasreddine Nabi was also considered for the role, although nothing came of it.
