With a Premier League club having reportedly been in advanced talks to sign Lyle Foster, the reason why they turned their attention to the Bafana Bafana striker has seemingly been revealed.
It recently emerged that newly promoted EPL side Ipswich Town had made a move to sign Foster from Burnley following the Clarets' relegation to the English second tier last season.

Initial reports suggested that Ipswich were first keen on signing Chelsea star Armando Broja, but that deal is said to have collapsed after an Achilles heel issue was identified during the Blues striker's medical, which will now keep him sidelined for more than a month.
According to Tribal Football, it is for this reason – the failed attempt to sign Broja – that Ipswich had begun their pursuit of Foster.
It is suggested that the South African was viewed as the most ideal alternative in this situation.
The Tractor Boys were thus expected to sign Forster on a loan deal with a £25 million (R584 million) obligation to buy at the end of the season.

However, the latest, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, is that despite talks reaching an advanced stage, Ipswich have decided to walk away from the deal.
Foster has starred in every Burnley match so far this season, registering one assist in four matches so far.
