The African champions are reportedly trying to offload the 30-year-old in the January transfer window, but the player is holding out for the full $600 000 (R10.8 million) stipulated in his current deal.

However, One place Tau will not be ending up is Zamalek, who have confirmed there have been no negotiations.

"There were no negotiations between Zamalek and Percy Tau, and what is being circulated about offering the player to Zamalek is incorrect," Suleiman said, as per Kooora.

"There is also no thought of signing a player from Al-Ahly and vice versa."

Former Zamalek midfielder Reda Abdel-Aal also previously stated that Tau would not be a good signing for the CAF Confederation Cup holders.

"From my point of view, Percy Tau gave everything he had with the Al Ahly team in the past seasons and will not be technically useful to Zamalek or Pyramids, even if signed for free," Abdel-Aal said on the El-Bermo show.

"Percy Tau will look in the coming period to play in the Gulf in order to secure his future after retiring from football permanently."
