German Bundesliga wrap

Union Berlin 0-4 RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig started their season with a 4-0 thumping of newcomers Union Berlin on Sunday evening at Stadion An Der Alten Forsterei.

Marcel Halstenberg grabbed the lead for the visitors in the 16th minute before Marcel Sabitzer doubled their lead in the 31st minute. Timo Werner extended the lead to 3-0 three minutes before the break while Christopher Nkunku got the fourth goal with 21 minutes remaining in the second half.

The newcomers will travel to Augsburg in their upcoming league game next week Saturday in the afternoon, while Leipzig will host Eintracht Frankfurt the next day.

Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 Hoffenheim

Eintracht Frankfurt opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Hoffenheim on Sunday afternoon at Commerzbank-Arena.

Martin Hinteregger scored the decisive goal for the hosts in the first minute of the match that sealed all the three points.

Frankfurt are occupying seventh spot on the table with three points following the slender win, while Hoffenheim are placed 15th on the log and without points.
