The 33-year-old is believed to have spoken to club representatives and is said to have given the green light for a potential switch to the Gulf.

Now, it has been claimed that the clubs must negotiate, with it being suggested that the Citizens are open to allowing the midfielder to leave Manchester.

This comes after it was reported that goalkeeper Ederson had agreed terms with Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr. A two-year deal worth a handsome £51 million (about R1.2 billion) is believed to have been tabled for the 30-year-old.

With the monetary gain that could come from a stint in Saudi Arabia, De Bruyne previously shared his thoughts on the prospect of playing for a club in the country, admitting that he would not rule out the possibility.

"At my age, you have to be open to everything," he told Belgian media outlet HLN.

"You're talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that.

"If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that, I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet."

The midfielder spent a significant portion of the 2023/24 campaign on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.

He did, however, return halfway through the season, managing to make 26 appearances across all competitions and contributed with six goals and 18 assists, helping his side retain their Premier League title.
