Another two clubs now want Salah after world-record 'bid'

Already the subject of a mammoth world-record bid, African superstar Mohamed Salah has now reportedly attracted the interest of another two clubs.

Saudi Pro League sides Al Hilal and Al Ahli have now been added to the race to get the Egyptian to the Arab nation, according to CaughtOffside

It is reported that Riyadh-based Hilal previously had Salah on a wish list alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar, but withdrew their interest in the Liverpool man after securing the Brazilian's services.

However, they are, like Ahli, now believed to be considering making a move for the Egyptian ahead of next season.

The interest comes after Saudi giants Al Ittihad reportedly launched a massive bid of £170 million (R4.1 billion), plus add-ons that would see the fee reach £215 million (R 5.2 billion), to tempt Liverpool into selling their prized forward after the Reds had rejected a previous offer from them.

If Ittihad fail to land their main target before the Saudi top-flight window closes on Thursday, it is claimed they will launch another attempt to sign him in January.

"[Al Ittihad] don't want to give up and could table a second bid [for Salah]. But it remains to be seen whether this will be simply to make a splash or because they genuinely think they stand a chance," transfer journalist Ben Jacobs wrote in a column for CaughtOffside.

"Al Ittihad want to push now because they would love to have him play in this year's Club World Cup in Jeddah. But also there is no guarantee they will be the allocated club for Salah in 2024 because of how these type of deals work.

"Al Hilal is also a possibility. The Riyadh-based club had Salah on a wish list alongside Messi and their now new signing Neymar. And by landing Neymar, they didn't explore Salah this window. Al Ahli may also be considered as well next summer."

As for whether or not Salah could still leave Liverpool before the Saudi transfer window shuts on Thursday, Jacobs wrote: "It's incredible money, but Liverpool can't replace Salah and have said throughout August they don't want to sell. It will be extremely unexpected if that changes in the next 48 hours."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, has insisted that Salah remains "super committed" to the Reds.

The Egyptian, at 31 years of age, is still a key part of the Merseyside club's plans, having started all of Liverpool's Premier League games so far this season, scoring two goals and assisting a further two strikes.
